Based on the 1908 novel by William Hope Hodgson, it involves the discovery of a discarded diary by two youths on the run from some troublesome locals. It begins simply enough: with two friends stumbling upon a ruined and curious house while vacationing in a remote village. ![]() Lovecraft lists it as among his greatest influences.
